Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important official stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
